On the afternoon of November 26, 2018, Lin Na, Secretary of the Party Committee of GTU, led a delegation to visit the East-West Education Group of Kazakhstan, and attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Silk Road Tourism Center in Almaty Campus of GTU.
During the meeting, Nurzhan, Chairman of the East-West Education Group, briefly introduced the history of the cooperation between the two sides and the next step. He pointed out that the program not only equipped students with the knowledge of language theory, but also provided students with opportunities to work in the tourism industry, promoting friendship and mutual trust between the two sides.
Lin Na fully affirmed the achievements of the cooperative education program. She pointed out that a good beginning is half done. The next step will be to actively explore a cooperation model suitable for the development of both sides, giving full play to the economic, ecological and social functions of tourism. Combining the characteristics of Guilin and Kazakhstan's tourism resources, we will conduct cooperation in personnel training, short-term study trips, 1+3 overseas study programs, construction of tourism discipline system, and research in the field of tourism industry management. Lina and her delegation also visited the teaching and office space of the Almaty Silk Road Tourism Center of GTU, and had a cordial exchange with the students.
The establishment of the Almaty Silk Road Tourism Center is an important move to follow the Belt and Road Initiative and implement the Ministry of Education's “Promoting the Construction of the Belt and Road” Education Action. During the visit, the two sides clarified the content of cooperation, and reached a consensus on cooperation, effectively facilitating GTU’s overseas running of school.
